AIGA Design Conference   October 13-16, Phoenix, Arizona

Design Fair

The Design Fair is our village commons, the gathering place for attendees between sessions and during breakfast, lunch and evening events. Virtually all activities occur in this area, including roundtable discussions with our speakers and prominent designers; an exhibit hall where you can learn about the latest products, software and hardware; the Command X workstation; and amenities including the bookstore, e-lounge and convenient conversation areas to discuss the day’s issues and engage in friendly debate.

Command X

In the heart of the Design Fair, you’ll find the Command X workstation. Swing by to catch a glimpse of your favorite Command X contestants hard at work on their next assignments. Each morning’s main stage convocation will also feature interviews conducted by emcee Michael Bierut and Sean Adams (our very own Tim Gunn), checking in with the contestants from this workstation.

Our business partners, who make it possible to hold conferences such as “Pivot,” will introduce you to the newest products on the market, from the latest in software innovation to unique tools that will help you do your job better and more efficiently. We encourage every attendee to visit each booth and meet these friends of design—they too believe in the value of design and are committed to your success! Our exhibitors are also the sponsors of our Opening Night Reception on Thursday evening and the Happy Hour on Friday.

Roundtable discussions

A unique and valuable opportunity for you to engage in an intimate conversation with “Pivot” presenters and other design luminaries, roundtables  are held during breakfast and lunch breaks at the Design Fair. It’s a great opportunity to have one-on-one conversations with speakers and to meet other attendees with similar interests. You’ll be able to grab breakfast or purchase a boxed lunch at the fair to fuel your discussion. To keep the conversation groups intimate, each roundtable is limited to 10 participants, with spots reserved ahead of time. Sign-up will be available in the summer.

Student Portfolio Review

Where else can you see the portfolios of 100 up-and-coming design students? Here’s your chance, during the Friday evening Happy Hour at the Design Fair. Be sure to stop by and check out the work of the next generation of designers. "Pivot" also offers programming designed specifically for students and emerging designers—check it out here.
